Shaykh Dr Mohammad Akram al-Nadwi is a graduate of the world renowned Nadwatul 'Ulama (India) where he studied and taught shari'ah. Shaykh Akram is a Muhaddith of the highest calibre who has specialised in 'Ilm ul Rijal [the study of the narrators of hadith]. He has Ijaza (licenses) from many of the most renowned scholars of our time including Shaykh Abul Hasan Ali Al-Nadwi, Shaykh Abdul-Fattah Abu Ghuddah and Shaykh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi. Shaykh Akram has a doctorate in Arabic Language and has authored and translated over 20 titles on Fiqh, Qur'an and Hadith including his monumental 40 volume work on the lives of female scholars of Hadith and the ground breaking Fiqh book Al-Fiqh al-Islami. He is currently a research fellow at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, Oxford University.
Shaykh Suliman Ghani, born into a noble family from S. Africa. He completed his Hifz whilst young, and pursued his Islamic Studies in Pakistan. Having studied there for a period of 3 years, Allah had blessed him to be accepted at Al Azhar university, where he studied for 2 years. In this period, the Shaykh was able to gain many authorisations (Ijazas) in Qur’an, Hadith, Fiqh etc. The Shaykhs hunger for knowledge had not stopped there. Having studied at Al Azhar, he later travelled to the University of Medina where he stayed for an additional 4 years graduating from the faculty of Hadith. After this the Shaykh picked up his MA in Islamic Studies from SOAS, London. Currently Shaykh Suliman Ghani resides in London, where he is a lecturer in Arabic, Islamic studies and is supervisor of Balham Mosque Madrasah. He is also one of the Imams of Tooting Islamic Centre.
Shaykh Haitham al-Haddad is a London-based Islamic Scholar and Muslim community leader. He was born and raised in Saudi Arabia and is of Palestinian origin. Shaykh Haitham sits on the board of advisors for a number of Islamic organisations in the United Kingdom including the Islamic Sharia Council and currently holds the position of chair and operations advisor for the Muslim Research and Development Foundation. He has studied Islamic sciences under the tutelage of various scholars. Shaykh Haitham holds a BSc Honours in Law and Shariah from Omdurman University in Khartoum, Sudan. He also holds a Bsc in Computer Science from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (Saudi Arabia) and is currently reading his PHD in Islamic Law at SOAS in London. Shaykh Haitham is qualified to deliver religious verdicts with a specialist in Islamic Jurisprudence and its principles, Islamic law and Islamic finance. The Shaykh is also one of the trustees for MRDF.
Shaykh Dr Abul kalam Azad completed his traditional Islamic Studies with specialisation in Hadith (Kamil) from Madrasha-e-Alia, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Then he travelled to the University of Medinah where he completed a B.A degree in Arabic Language and Literature. Thereafter he received his M.A in teaching Arabic to non-natives from the International Islamic University Malaysia. He then received his PhD in Education from the University of Portsmouth, U.K. He co-authored a book on Arabic language (4 volumes) for Bangladesh Open University, Islamic literature (translated, to be published). Currently he is the Director of Jamiatul Ummah Sixth Form College, assistant Professor of Education (Part-time) at American University in London, and part-time teacher at London Open College. He is an active scholar in the community and runs various initiatives to educate the Muslim community. He hosts a programme on 'Lights of Hadith' on Channel S TV and is the Secretary of Ulama Council at Darul Ummah, London.
Ustadh Andrew Booso is a graduate of law from the London School of Economics. He is a writer on contemporary Islamic affairs, with a focus on Muslims in England (and many of his articles are published on www.suhaibwebb.com). His religious education has included instruction from Shaykh Iqbal Azami and Shaykh Muhammad Akram Nadwi, as well as numerous students of knowledge; and has covered the study of Islamic theology, law, spirituality and the science of reciting the Qur’an, with around a year spent in Jordan. He is also a qualified editor.
