Course Synopsis:

We all are accustomed to reading the shortest Surahs of the Qur'an daily in our prayers. Surah Fatihah and the last 13 Chapters of the Qur'an are the oft-repeated chapters which most Muslims memorise by heart. However, do we understand what we recite? Do our prayers have impact on our lives?

Imagine if we knew the meaning of every single word of these Surahs, their virtues, their context of revelation and the messages Allah wants us to take from them, how different our prayers will be! Surely the quality of our Salat will be significantly enhanced by the Grace of Allah. Our prayers (Salat) will be enhanced in a massive way.

This one day intensive Course will provide the opportunity to go through the text of these Surahs with Tajweed and learn the meaning and detailed Tafseer (explanation) of each verse. You will receive a free booklet with the meaning of every single word in these Surahs with questions and answers to test your knowledge. Insha Allah, this will be the beginning of your journey through the Qur'an and heightened spirituality (Khushu') in your prayers.

Instructors: 

- Hafiz Abdullah Muhammad and Sheikh Abdullah Hasan

Abdullah Muhammad studied in an Islamic School and also memorized the Quran by heart. He has an MA in Islamic Studies (Distinction) from SOAS.

He is a qualified teacher of Religious Education and a Lawyer specializing in Employment law. He has done extensive researches on the Quran, published over a dozen articles and is the author of “The Best of Times in Islam” (IPCI, 2002). He spends most of his spare time delivering various Quran courses for the Quran Study Group (www.quranstudygroup.org) and various course providers.

- Abdullah Hasan graduated with an Imam Diploma, BA and Ijaza Aliyah in Islamic Studies from the European College for Islamic Studies (Wales). He holds a diploma in Arabic from Zarqa Private University ( Jordan ) and studied with some of the Scholars of Jordan including Shaykh Ahmad Hawwa [son of the late Scholar Syed Hawwa , Syria ], and Jamal Ud Din Basha.

He is a founding director of Spring Foundation (SF), which is a scholarship charity for students of the Islamic sciences. Abdullah Hasan has been involved with Islamic Forum of Europe (IFE), a grassroots Da'wah organisation, since 1998. He is one of the teachers at the East London Mosque's popular weekly circles of knowledge ‘Meadows of Paradise' that facilitates the dissemination of traditional sacred knowledge.

Abdullah Hasan is an Imam/Khateeb of Masjid Ibrahim & Islamic Centre, London U.K, and is an Islamic advisor at Nour Domestic Violence charity. He also delivers talks on various Islamic issues at university campuses, mosques and Islamic centres here in Britain and abroad.

• Know the meaning of every word read in the invocations in Salat
• Understand the deeper meaning and significance of Surahs recited in the Salat
• Learn more than 1000 Qur'anic Arabic words by heart

It will give you guidance and give you step by step guide on how to practice what you have learnt during the course. In addition, all participants will receive a free book called ‘Virtues of the Prophet (SAW' by Hafidh al-Asbahani , a chapter translated from the classical and much
celebrated work Dalail an-Nubuwwah. You will also receive a copy of the booklet ‘Understanding the Qur'an' to help you spiritually connect with the Qur'an.

We are offering 20 students (male or female) to study Arabic and Islamic studies at the European College of Islamic Studies (Wales, U.K). The scholarship will pay for the accommodation and the fees for one academic year commencing from October 2011.
